TEMPE, Ariz. -

A kitten stuck in the ceiling of a recreation center weighed only one pound when she was rescued.

Employees of Pyle Adult Recreation Center in Tempe heard her little mews for days, but they couldn't tell where it was coming from. They called the Arizona Humane Society.

Arizona Humane Society Emergency Animal Medical Technician Andy Gallo came out to try and rescue the kitten.

Gallo cut a hole in the ceiling, found her and pulled her out. She wasn't hurt, but was extremely hungry and thirsty and weighed just over 1 pound.

It's unknown how she got in there in the first place. To prevent other creatures from getting lost in the ceiling, the hole will be turned into a trap door.

Little Libby the kitten is now in foster care and will be up for adoption once she reaches 2 pounds and can be spayed.

Gallo describes the rescue as this: "Best, most destructive, most rewarding and hardest rescue to date."
