German Students Experience City Of Brotherly Love

PHILADELPHIA -

A group of students from Germany learn the true meaning behind "the city of brotherly love" after Philadelphia tourism officials turn a potential disaster into a shining example of local hospitality.

About two dozen German high school students, set for a trip to Philadelphia, almost didn't make it after their travel agency went belly up.

The group lost their deposit and their hotel reservations. They were panicked about what to do until the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association stepped in. The Inn At Penn not only arranged free lodging, but they also worked with local tourism officials to provide free tickets to museums, attractions and even Sunday's Phillies game

"It was incredible. We were so happy and glad to be here. The people are so friendly and nice and helpful," said one student.

"I can't believe it. It's like being in a dream, really, because so many people have been so generous," said a parent chaperone.

The students are set to head back to Germany today.
