Austin police are looking for a group of mask wearing bandits.
The group, according to police, is on a crime spree that began this past Saturday. Six different robberies have taken place. Four of the incidents happened within a two hour period Sunday morning, according to Sgt. Jonathan Herring, with APD Robbery Unit.
"Putting a gun into people's faces and demanding and taking property and you're talking about an aggravated robbery first degree felony offense ... so this is a very serious and scary thing for each victim that's been involved," said Sgt. Herring.
The victims describe the bandits as Hispanic males although they wear Halloween movie mask to cover their faces. Most of the incidents have taken place in east Austin between 10th and 3rd streets. One case involves a pizza delivery man; another victim was just standing in his front yard.
"Generally it seems to be a targeting of, a crime of opportunity of such, where the suspects are actively driving around looking for people whether they are in their front yard or out on a street where they can get to them quickly and easily and try to rob them," said Herring.
None of the robbery victims were hurt.
