"Protect America SMART Connect App" helps protect homes, families

Posted: Updated:

Modern technology has changed the way we live. We can just about anything with our phones, including protecting our homes and families.

When 8-year-old Jackson comes home from school, even if he's all alone, his mother doesn't have to worry if he's made it. As soon as Jackson types in his special pass code on their Protect America home security keypad, Jackson's mother, Abigail Baker, immediately receives a text message on her cell phone letting her know Jackson is home safe.

"The most important thing as a parent to make sure your kid is like safe," said Baker.

Baker's security system is controlled through a free app on her cell phone called 'SMART Connect'. SMART Connect allows her to constantly monitor what's going on inside her home when she's away.

"I feel safe," said Baker, I'm taking care of my kids, but there's also something that's watching us and protecting us."

Baker said the app is user friendly. So easy in fact that even an 8-year-old can use it.

"It's really easy," said Jackson.

"As soon as the system is disarmed you can actually get a live view of your child walking in the door," said Nickko Nunez with Protect America.

Nunez says the easy to use app is taking off fast in the Austin area because parents can literally monitor their home from anywhere at any time.

"Instead of having to worry about the whole phone call or trying to contact them, maybe they don't answer the phone, said Nunez, "As soon as they disarm the system with that unique code, you're going to get a message telling you that they've actually arrived at the home."

You can download the SMART connect app for free on your iPhone. The security service through Protect America starts at about $28 a month.
