Auschwitz survivor Gene Klein, daughter Jill tell story of resilience
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Holocaust survivor Gene Klein and his daughter Dr. Jill Klein joined Good Day Chicago to tell their family's story, and explain what readers will learn from her new book, "We Got the Water: Tracing My Family's Path Through Auschwitz."
Gene Klein was born in Czechoslovakia in 1928. He was sent to Auschwitz with his family in 1944, when he was only 16 years old. He spoke on what happened when he got there, how he survived – physically and mentally. It took resilience.
Dr. Jill Klein is working with her father to inform new generations of what those camps were like and how people like her father and his sisters stayed strong to endure through that horrific time. They also want to spread the message that people can apply a similar resilience to leadership roles today.
