Homeowner shoots burglar in North Austin

Posted: Updated:

A home is burglarized in North Austin Sunday afternoon but it didn't end very well for the burglar.

It happened on Colony North Drive.

Austin Police say 2 suspects attempted to break into the house in broad daylight around lunchtime.

Unfortunately for them, the homeowner was home and shot one of them.

We tried to speak with the homeowner today but..."no comment."

Meanwhile, one of their neighbors is fed up with how bad his street is getting.

After 13 years, he's moving out.

"I think it's bad because evidently that's why we're moving because it's getting bad, this neighborhood," Joe Arias said.

"Three times I found my door open.  We left to go shopping and my door is wide open.  And I told my wife, I don't know how come it's open," he said.

Austin Police didn't give out a lot of details on this today besides the fact that the suspect that was shot was taken to a hospital with not-very-serious injuries.

They wouldn't tell us whether the other person got away.

But they say it's still being investigated.
