Seton Medical Center is showing off their new $48 million expansion.
The Central Austin hospital now has 57,000 square feet of more space for the Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Care Unit and Cardiology Unit.
Sixty new patient rooms with extra room for the comfort of patients' families have been added. The hospital also now has a third device to help cardiopulmonary bypass patients.
"Here at Seton we've had fairly old infrastructure that we're in the process of revamping, recapitalizing. We have the money to move forward and do what's necessary here. Technology is increasing, we have more equipment we can bring to take care of our patients and with that comes the increased space," Jordan Weingarten M.D. said.
Seton also added some more comfort elements to the hospital including more natural lighting in rooms and more room in waiting areas for extra privacy.
