Check out the FOX 7 High School Football Rankings following the opening weekend of the season.

CLASS 5A

1.Hendrickson (1-0, defeated 4A Rouse 28-0)

-How good must the Hawks feel after their season debut? RB Samaje Perine held under 70 yards rushing with no touchdowns, and they still win by four touchdowns.

2.Westlake (0-1, lost to 4A Cedar Park 43-31)

-Chaps can't stop Nate Grimm and Timberwolves offense in season-opening loss.

3.Westwood (1-0, defeated Austin High 42-13)

-QB Bear Fenamore completes 35 of 39 passes as Warriors roll to season-opening win.

4.Lake Travis (0-1, lost to Converse Judson 25-19)

-Cavs defense has strong second half, but can't overcome Judson's 18-point second quarter.

5.Bowie (1-0, defeated Pflugerville 42-14)

-Bulldogs score 35 unanswered points during 2nd and 3rd quarters in surprising blowout of Panthers.

CLASS 4A

1.Cedar Park (1-0, defeated 5A Westlake 43-31)

-TWolves begin defense of state title with QB Nate Grimm (345 total yards) leading the way.

2.Elgin (1-0, defeated Bryan Rudder 49-3)

-Wildcats fulfill high expectations, at least in Week Zero, with blowout win on road.

3.Georgetown (1-0, defeated 5A Killeen Ellison 35-14)

-Eagles show no signs of missing a ton of graduated seniors from last year's state finalists in easy win over 5A team.

4.Leander (1-0, defeated Connally 41-20)

-Lions put off-field distraction aside, impressive in coach Lee Bridges' debut.

5.Manor (1-0, defeated Waco University 40-0)

-One the heels of last year's dream season, the Mustangs get out of the gate quickly against overmatched opponent on the road.

CLASS 3A

1.La Grange (1-0, defeated 4A Marble Falls 49-23)

-RBs Fillmore and Hutchison roll to 340 yards rushing in blowout of 4A Mustangs.

2.Wimberley (1-0, defeated Llano 31-14)

-Texans begin post-Weldon Nelms era in solid fashion.

3.Burnet (1-0, defeated Fredericksburg 40-27)

-Bulldogs open with nice win on the road.

4.Giddings (1-0, defeated Liberty Hill 21-20)

-Buffs spoil debut of Liberty Hill's new stadium, overcoming a 20-12 3rd quarter deficit.

5.Fredericksburg (0-1, lost to Burnet 40-27)

-Billies can't climb out of two-touchdown hole at halftime in season-opening loss.

CLASS 2A/1A/OTHERS

1.Mason (1-0, defeated Winters 55-6)

-Punchers still look the part of a state-title contender in season-opening laugher.

2.Luling (1-0, defeated UC Randolph 47-23)

-Eagles continue momentum from the end of last season, doubling up Randolph.

3.Lexington (0-1, lost to Crockett 35-34)

-Heartbreaker for Eagles to open the season, losing on a blocked extra point with no time left that would have tied the game.

 

4.Lago Vista (1-0, defeated Dilley 44-13)

-Vikings sprint to 20 point halftime lead, and never look back.

5.Blanco (1-0, defeated 3A Fischer Canyon Lake 13-6)

-McKay Adamson's 4th quarter TD pass to Colton Elrod gives Panthers huge opening win over 3A Canyon Lake.
