SAGINAW, Mich. (WJBK) -

He told police he planned to sell it to a scrap yard for $20 but a stolen bathtub is going to wind up costing a Buena Vista Township man a whole lot more.

Cedric T. Jones plead guilty last week to a misdemeanor charge of larceny from a vacant North Side Saginaw house.

Now the 43-year old man faces up to a year in jail after taking a plea deal from prosecutors who agreed to drop a felony charge of larceny from a building. That charge typically carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison.

Saginaw police say officers found Jones in the garage of the vacant home after a neighbor reported seeing two men enter the home. The other man was later seen leaving the house. When officers arrived they found Jones who was bleeding and there was blood on the tub.

Jones remains jailed on a $7,500 bond and is awaiting sentencing.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
