Athletes participate in 2nd Annual TriRock Austin Triathlon
Athletes from all around the area spent part of their Labor Day holiday swimming, biking and running.
It was all part of the second Annual TriRock Austin Triathlon.
Athletes first took a swim in Lady Bird Lake. Then moved to a bike course along Congress Avenue and then ran through the trail near Auditorium Shores.
For some like Austin Attorney Trek Doyle the athletic endurance challenges had a bigger meaning.
"I'm participating primarily to raise funds for the fight against blood cancer. My wife is a leukemia survivor of eight years, and the more you become involved in that cause and the more people you come to meet, the more you realize how lucky we were and how much more needs to be done in order to help fight leukemia and other blood cancers," Trek Doyle, TriRock Austin Triathlete.
Doyle says he and his team have raised somewhere around $30,000 for the cause. TriRock challenges are also held in six other cities across the U.S.
