Law enforcement out on Labor Day patrols

Posted: Updated:

During this Labor Day weekend the Department of Public Safety has increased the number of d-w-i patrols.
They'll focus on high risk areas at times when alcohol-related crashes are most common.
During last year's labor day effort, nearly 19-hundred d-w-i arrests were made across Texas.
It's also a no refusal weekend.
That means Austin police spent the night searching for those who got behind the wheel after drinking.
If officers and troopers think you may have been drinking they have search warrants on hand for suspected drunk drivers who refuse to take a breathalyzer or a blood test..
Over night APD officers arrested 25 people for d-w-i.
10 of those consented to a breathalyzer.
15 people had their blood draw.
Out of those 15 -  14 refused and a  search warrant was required.
