PHOENIX -

Another dust storm and thunderstorm blew through the Phoenix metropolitan area after heavy rain fell on many parts of western Arizona.

Rain, lightning, thunder, wind, and dust -- we got it all.

Tempe got a whopping .75" of rain, Avondale .51", Queen Creek .35", Phoenix Sky Harbor airport .34", Paradise Valley and Surprise .28", Ahwatukee .24", and Gilbert .16".

There were reports of some downed power lines and trees in Tempe, and police officers were called out to I-17 and Greenway to help people to dry ground.

Downed trees crushed several cars in Tempe -- and employees at Humana were asked to stay inside when a power pole went down.

The area of US 60 and Mill Ave is notorious for flooding during big storm, and it was no different Monday. The right lanes were flooded and everyone was trying to move over to the HOA lane to get home.

The dust storm swept through the greater Phoenix area about 7 p.m. The dust storm warning was canceled at 8 p.m. after it no longer posed a threat to motorists.

The dust storm started by swallowing up the Chandler Regional Airport. 15 minutes later the wall was up to the US 60. Drivers down at the I-10 and Wild Horse Pass had to pull off the freeway and wait out the storm.

By 6:35 p.m., the dust wall moved into downtown Tempe. About this time, the storm was overtaking Sky Harbor Airport.

SkyFOX caught a US Airways jet off in the distance coming in for a landing. But at the last moment, it pulled up and aborted due to the dust and strong winds. Several other flights were delayed for a few minutes.

Not too long after that -- the rain. There were hardly any areas in the valley spared.

There are reports of thousands of people without power in the Phoenix area, for both APS and SRP customers.

Repairs aren't expected to be completed until past midnight.
