For the second holiday season in a row the Trail of Lights will be returning to Zilker Park. The event will be held over two weeks in December, thanks to last year's popular demand.
This year the event will feature more live entertainment, family- friendly activities, and more food. That's in addition to the one mile-plus trail of lights and the 155-foot tall Zilker tree.
The holiday light tradition ran for decades until its 2009 cancellation for budget reasons.
Last year the trail was brought back but only for one week and a record 400,000 people came out to see it.
Organizers say the non-profit trail of lights foundation has been established to make sure this holiday tradition keeps going in Austin.
This year it'll run December 8-22 in Zilker Park.
