On Saturday at the Shaolin Do Kung Fu Challenge in Round Rock 7-year-old Reuban Paul became the youngest American to earn a black belt in Shaolin Do Kung Fu.
That accomplishment requires mastery of six different weapon forms.
Reuben, a Pflugerville resident, has been training since he was three and a half years old.
"First I started it and then I liked it a lot," Reuben said. "Then I started doing more and more of it. Then I started growing into it. I liked it more and it came natural to me."
"Kung Fu is something that he loves, and I think that's the other important thing is, do it as a family son activity, you know family activity," Reuben's dad Mano Paul said. "Then you are doing it together.
"I actually don't have to force him at all. He loves to do it. So he just does it so."
