Tech Check: Gridiron gizmos

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

This week's Tech Check is divided up into quarters just in time for the football season to kickoff. The end of August signals the beginning of gridiron games and technology can help you prepare for all of them.

Before the big game, you may want to tailgate and a free app will help you. Tailgating is a free app available for Apple devices. It helps you create lists for everything you could possibly need from food to fan ware. The app also allows you to share the list with your friends so they can be involved in the preparations.

Another good app for the football season is the Weber Grills app. It is available for free through both iTunes and Google Play. Even if you aren't using one of their grills, Weber will send weekly grilling recipes. There are about 75 in all and plenty of good tips to go along with it. It also will fill out your grocery list for you.

And trying to keep up with the games has also gotten easier with two different apps. The first is a free app from FOX 5 Atlanta's parent company. It is called the FOX Sports app and is available for both Android and Apple devices. And it isn't just for football.

The other is NFL Mobile. This app is the complete NFL experience for on-the-go fans. In addition to scores, highlights and analysis, some wireless customers can pay a monthly fee for premium contact that includes live games on your device.

But if you're going to be watching football on your mobile device, you are going to need a jolt of battery power. The new Droid Maxx by Motorola offers a five-inch screen with an amazing 48 hours of battery life.

And extra battery power is just a case away with the Mophie Juice Pack. Extra battery life is provided through the case which plugs into and charges your device.

If you have used any of the above products or have a suggestion for a good tailgating app, visit facebook.com/DougEvansFOX5 and leave a comment.
