Administrators for the Austin Independent School District say the district will begin offering domestic partnership benefits to employees this fall.
Superintendent Meria Carstarphen confirmed the move Wednesday after the district's all-staff convocation.
The district originally announced the benefits in March, but in June AISD announced to stay that it would not offer the domestic partnership benefits.
Now district officials say AISD will finalize the plans and start enrolling on October first.
They say the extended benefits will be available to "qualifying individuals," including domestic partners, on December 1.
