An Austin man faces sexual assault charges after a woman reported being raped.

Christopher Martinez, 22, has been charged with one count of sexual assault.

Authorities say that a woman accused Martinez of raping her in his downtown apartment when her two friends left to go to the store.

According to police, Martinez invited the victim and her two friends to his apartment located in the 1000 block of Clayton Lane.

The victim told police Martinez forced her to the floor and sexually assaulted her after her friends went to the store.

One of her friends walked back in and witnessed what was happening. She confronted Martinez after he followed her out of the apartment and told him that she did not believe what she witnessed was consensual. But Martinez assured her it was and the two friends eventually left.

Meantime, the victim locked herself in Martinez's bathroom. She heard a knock and thought it was one of her friends. When she opened it, she discovered it was Martinez. He grabbed her wrist and led her to the bedroom where he sexually assaulted her again.

She was able to escape when Martinez answered a knock at his door. As she was running through the parking lot she found her friends as they were returning and made an outcry that she had been raped.

In an interview with police, Martinez told investigators that he heard the victim tell him no and that he disregarded her wishes.
