An Austin police officer was suspended after he accessed a police report filed against him and used department resources for personal use, the Office of the Chief of Police says.
According to the Office of the Chief of Police, APD Officer Jesus Borunda took possession of a television from one of his rental properties as collateral for unpaid rent. Borunda was advised several times that the TV did not belong to the tenant and received several requests to return the property but he refused. A police report was filed against Borunda after several unsuccessful attempts were made to retrieve the TV.
During the investigation Borunda admitted to accessing the police report and using department resources for his personal use, which is a violation of the Civil Service Rules.
Borunda was suspended for three days.
