Neighbor Call To 911 Foils Home Invasion

UPPER DARBY, Pa -

A teenager may not be alive if it weren't for the neighbor across the street. She wouldn't talk on camera, but says she saw one of the suspects climb up on the porch roof and break in through the window. That's when she immediately called 911 police arrived within less than a minute and rescued the boy.

A terrifying morning for the 13 year old boy at home alone in Upper Darby.

"If the cops didn't get there early he might have gotten killed or something," says Catherine Lamie, a neighbor. "It's scary. You don't know what they can do to him."

Catherine Lamie, a mom with children around the same age, lives doors down from where police say that three men broke into the teen's Littlecroft Road home in broad daylight around 11:30 a.m.

Investigators tell us that the boy was playing video games when he heard a noise coming from the second floor window. When he went to check it out, that's when Detectives say Daniel Taylor grabbed the teen's arm and held a loaded gun to his head.

"The 13 year old tried to run and Taylor grabbed him by the arm and put a gun to the back of the head and told him to chill out," describes Michael Chitwood, the Upper Darby Police Superintendent.

A neighbor saw it all go down and called for help.

"No sooner then they got in, she called 911. And before they had a chance to do anything, police surrounded the home," says Chitwood.

"I was shocked because I've been living here for a few years. I was surprised to see something go on," says Catherine.

Police explain that this is not the first time the teen came face-to-face with one of the suspects. Imanuel Forbes, another suspect, tried to break in two weeks earlier. Investigators believe the home was targeted. The suspects told detectives they were looking for drugs and money from the stepfather, according to police reports.

"These are three bad guys. They don't pick this house at random. They picked it for a reason," says Chitwood.

The three suspects are being held on 100 thousand dollars cash bail. They each face numerous charges including robbery and terrorism threats.

"I call them urban terrorists," says Michael Chitwood,  the Upper Darby Police Superintendent. "To go into a house, climb in a window and put a gun on a 13 year old's head. That's terrorism."

The boy's mother tells FOX 29 that he spent the day at a friends house and is doing ok.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
