Many people use social networking to get together with other people to discuss topics, trends, or details of their lives. Facebook may be the most mainstream and the biggest, with just over one billion users, but there are probably some you're missing out on.Reddit.com allows users to discuss hot topics and interests through different pages called subreddits. The homepage shows the most popular subreddits, but you can easily search for topics that suit your interest. Reddit users' votes cause the hottest subreddits to be at the top of each section. Medium.com is a blog that allows users to contribute quality posts about anything from controversial politics to popular trends. The site was started by a co-founder of Twitter to allow people to share their stories and ideas without a 140 character restriction. Users can also leave comments for authors in specific sections or sentences for further explanation or discussion. 500px.com is similar to popular photo website Flickr.com. Users can post photos and then like, favorite and comment on others. A big difference between the sites is that free 500px users are only given a certain number of photo uploads. The restriction forces users to choose their photos carefully and often results in higher quality selections. Take a cue from the "social" in social media and try contributing to a new circle.
