3 women accused of using children to help shoplift from department store

Posted: Updated:

Police say three women used children to help them steal more than a $1,000 in merchandise from an Austin department store.

Josselyn Andara, Lela Flores and Reyna Guardado are each charged with theft.

Court documents say they were at the JC Penney's in the Barton Creek Square Mall on Saturday, with six children.

A loss prevention officer saw them on security cameras, as they went into fitting rooms and put on clothes and shoes from the store, putting other merchandise into purses and store bags.

When they left the store without paying for the nearly $1,400 in merchandise, they were stopped by security.

Court documents say the women and children are all family members.
