Shelter finds pair of abandoned dogs new home

Posted: Updated:

Two dogs that were abandoned at a nearby dog park have been adopted.

River and Brooke now have new loving owners, who renamed them Sonny and Cher.

The folks at the Austin Animal Center want you to meet a very special brother and sister who are up for adoption.

River and Brook were abandoned at a nearby dog park.

The Austin Animal Center wants them to be adopted together. That is because River is blind and deaf. He loves his sister and their playtime and even relies on Brook to help lead the way sometimes.

Lauralei Combs with ACC said River is easy to train and promises they will show you how to give him commands before you take him home

"I was so impressed with how quickly that he learned his commands," Combs said. "I was amazed. It was really wonderful to see. So it would make anyone feel great if they could work with this dog."

River and Brook are Aussie mixes.

If you're interested in adopting them, you can stop by the Austin Animal Center at 7201 Levander Loop any day between 11 AM and 7 PM.
