The Texas football team going through their second week of practices. Of course, one of the main issues a lot of folks want to see fixed this season is on the defensive side of the ball.
Last year's team was statistically, the worst, in school history, giving up an average of nearly 30 points and just over 400 yards a game. Several UT fans called for defensive coordinator, Manny Diaz's job after last year's performance.
"There's nothing I can tell them that could answer that. And nobody cares with what I would say anyways. Nothing matters except how we play football this year. Nothing else matters. Gotta go out and play football. Somebody's gonna sit a ball down. They're gonna snap it, and we gotta go chase it," Diaz said. "Chase it and we gotta hit it hard when we get there. That's all that matters. And then we do that the first game. It's not gonna matter. Gotta go do it the second game. Nothing matters except what's in front of us, really. I'm irrelevant in the conversation. We got a bunch of guys that we're trying to get better. Trying to understand what they're doing. Play hard and fast. So they can chase the ball hard. And hit it hard when they get there."
