Austin police are continuing their investigation into the death of a 60-year-old woman in the Barwood Park area of North Austin.
A friend of the deceased called police around 12:30 asking officers to check on the woman. She told police she hadn't heard from her friend in three days.
Police found the woman dead in her ground floor apartment at the Remmington House Apartments near 183 and Rundberg.
Corporal David Boyd with APD says the woman's injuries are suspicious. He would not go into detail about the extent of the woman's injuries.
"Detectives are going to be continuing their investigation with crime scene unit and the medical examiner. An autopsy will be performed to determine exact cause of death on the deceased," explained Boyd.
Police say there appear to be no signs of forced entry. Boyd says at this time there's no reason for people living in the area to be alarmed.
Austin police say this is an ongoing investigation.
