DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) -

Sometimes people don't realize who they hurt when they commit a crime or maybe they just don't care.

"Why would anyone do such a hateful kind of act?" said Wahbeh Nuseubeh. "I was born with spina bifida."

"That van, it gave me freedom."

Freedom to explore the world. It also allowed him to be independent, gifts many of us may take for granted, but this 15-year-old never will.

This young man has not stopped thinking about what he has lost. Nuseubeh's wheelchair accessible van was parking in front of his house, but three weeks ago it was stolen in the middle of the night as it sat on Miller Road in Dearborn.

"I said, 'Why us?' Our van helps me. It's like specially for me," Nuseubeh said. "I don't want my disability to hold me down from doing stuff."

"It happened to us twice."

A year ago, the same van was stolen from the same spot, but after a few days it was found on the east side of Detroit. It had taken a beating, but they put it back together again.

The vehicle is a purple 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan with a license plate that reads "WAHBEH".

Now without that van, "it really made our lives kind of difficult," Nuseubeh said. "It's a real shame."

The family is hoping somebody knows something and will call Dearborn Police.
