Scott Fisher works the night shift for FOX 7.
"I admit that I get up at about 11:30 or noon. I take a shower. I clean up. I microwave lunch every day," said Fisher.
I said, "Show us your delicacies that you warm up."
"I got the lasagna with meat sauce," added Fisher. "Veggies, here. Uh, sesame chicken noodle. I don't cook."
Fisher takes about a five minute shower and doesn't use water to cook his food.
"My second biggest water consumption...is Philly," said Fisher.
I made a call to the city. I was on hold for a couple of minutes...20 minutes," said Fisher. "They looked at the bill and they looked at the water usage and they asked if I had been filling or re-filling my pool recently.
We checked, there is no pool in his backyard.
Fisher added, "I could have 27 swimming pools and still not equal 473,000 gallons of water."
For a split second Fisher thought he might have a leak under the house, but what little grass he does have in his yard is a salt and pepper of green and yellow.
Fisher added, "A regular garden hose would have to be on, roughly 37 days."
The shrubs lining the fence, some are green...some are not...and this potted plant is suffering too.
"It hasn't really sunk in," said Fisher. "My routine was still a five minute shower...water, with ice cubes for the dog."
Austin Water will be checking their computer system and fish's water meter.
He added, "They did say if it's a mistake, they'll fix it, but if it's not a mistake...they kind of left it open that I might be on the hook for six grand."
A rep with Austin's Water utility told FOX 7 they're working to figure out why Fisher's latest water bill is so high.
