Chicago's Most Wanted: Samuel Nunez

Posted: Updated:

The continued violence we see on the streets of Chicago is, according to police, a result of the kind of criminal activity that Samuel Nunez is charged with committing.

Nunez was charged in July 2010 with violating federal weapons laws. He is accused of buying or selling at least eight guns in 2012 and 2013. The FBI says while he thought he was selling to a gang member, that person was actually an undercover FBI agent.

Prosecutors charged Nunez and his co-defendants with buying guns from neighboring states as well as from overseas in Europe or Asia. Nunez was specifically charged with buying or selling weapons that included shotguns, handguns and an AK-47 assault rifle. The FBI says those weapons were being sold for up to a thousand dollars each. Nunez had a previous felony drug conviction, which barred him from possessing any guns at all.

Agents believe he fled to Mexico. But he has family in Texas, so he could possibly be hiding there. But he also has connections here in the Chicago area, so there's also a possibility because several years have passed that he may have felt safe enough to return here. His last known address was in the 2700 block of West 39th Place in Chicago.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to his arrest.

Here is the FBI's description of Samuel Nunez:

--Hispanic male, 26 years old

--He's about 5'8" and weighs about 180 pounds.

--He has black hair and brown eyes

--He has a tattoo on his chest that says "Sabina".

He is considered armed and dangerous, if you see him or know where he is, you are asked to call police or the FBI.
