Lincoln Tunnel lanes reopened

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The New Jersey-bound lanes of the Lincoln Tunnel have reopened Wednesday evening after a debris spill on 495 in New Jersey was cleaned up, officials said.

A dump truck carrying rocks and debris malfunctioned and dumped its entire load on the road, the AP reported. Police have charged the dump truck driver with 13 summonses, including delaying traffic, dropping injurious substances on the highway and careless driving.

While crews cleaned up the debris, the north tube was closed and traffic already in the tunnel was diverted to the Hoboken exit, the Port Authority said.

New Jersey Transit bus tickets and passes are being accepted on all NJT rail lines.
