APD searches for robbery ring

Posted: Updated:

Austin police are searching for a team of violent robbers that are not only holding guns on people to get what they want, but punching and assaulting them.

Austin police say the robbers like to approach people as they get out of or into their vehicles.

After robbing someone at 10th Street and Lamar, the robbers would go on to strike seven more times throughout the city within an eight hour time period.

Police say the three robbers targeted parking lots. Stolen items include purses, credit cards wallets. Each time was a little different.

Some victims reported that the robbers just displayed a gun. Others had it pointed at their heads and some others were assaulted.

Police are looking for three black males in their late teens or early 20s. Two of them, detectives believe have short-cropped or shaved hair. Another one is described as having short hair. Witnesses say all appeared to be tall and thin.

Officers say these are violent individuals that need to be off the street.

If you have any information about these crimes, call the police department.
