CLEVELAND (AP) -- Jake Peavy is prepared to make his next start -- for the White Sox or anyone else.

Chicago's coveted starter could be traded before Wednesday's deadline. The right-hander said Monday that he'll be relieved when it passes and in the meantime he's ready to face the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday. Peavy came on the trip with extra luggage in the event he winds up with another team.

Peavy said he would not be surprised if any deal went down to the last minute. First-year general manager Rick Hahn has kept him abreast of talks and said the two last spoke on Sunday, when the last-place White Sox lost for the ninth time in 12 games.

Peavy said the speculation has been difficult to deal with, but "I certainly in no way feel sorry for myself."
