A week after a hit-an-run driver crashed through her house, Bertha Haywood got a new temporary home from a FOX 7 viewer. "I was watching your segment and I saw she was homeless due to a car going through her rental property she was renting," Jason Neeley told FOX 7 Sunday. He decided to loan his camper to Haywood. Last weekend a driver crashed through Haywood's home, making it unlivable. Her landlord put her up in a hotel, but only for a couple days. Neeley said it was Haywood's uplifting spirit and smile that made him want to help her out. He delivered the camper to her Sunday.
"I needed to clean it out anyway, get it ready. I spent the last few days working on it, but it needed the work anyway, and I was glad...It gave me the opportunity to fix my RV. I'm just happy to be of service," says Neeley.
Unfortunately, Haywood was not there to receive the camper. Her family tells FOX 7 she had to go to the hospital this weekend for heart complications.
