Officer involved shooting update

Posted: Updated:

We've got an update for you tonight on the fatal officer involved shooting that happened in central Austin yesterday.
Austin police have identified the officer who fired the shots as detective Charles "Trey" Kleinert.
The decedent has been identified as 32-year-old Larry Eugene Jackson, Junior.
This is video of Kleinert from an interview fox 7 did with him in 2009.
Austin police say yesterday afternoon Kleinert was investigating a robbery at benchmark bank on 35th street when Jackson came to the bank door wanting in.
The bank manager reportedly went outside to talk with him and thought he seemed suspicious, so Kleinert went outside to see what he was up to.
After a short chat, officers say Jackson took off running.
Police say Kleinert chased him and after a physical struggle at 34th and Shoal Creek, he shot Jackson-- killing him.
Kleinert is now on administrative leave.
He's been with the department since 19-94.
Today a-p-d released these photos of a possible witness to the shooting.
If this person looks familiar, call police. they are interested in speaking with him.
