81-Year-Old Woman Robbed, Thrown To Ground After Cashing Check

Posted: Updated:

Police are looking for a suspect who was seen on surveillance video just before they say he robbed an 81-year-old woman in Wharton last week.

The victim was cashing a check at 1 p.m. on July 17 when the suspect walked into the store on the 1300 block of South Juniper Street.

After she was done, police say the suspect followed her out and then threw her to the ground, stealing her wallet.

The suspect is believed to be a 30 year-old black male wearing a white T-shirt. Close-up images released by police in a YouTube video show him at a pawn window.

If anyone has information about the crime or suspect, they are asked to contact the South Detectives Division at 215-686-3013. You can also call 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847).
