Urban League Unveils Original Copy Of Emancipation Proclamation

PHILADELPHIA -

A special ceremony at the National Constitution Center tonight.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, The Urban League unveiled an original copy of the document, signed by Abraham Lincoln.

The event was part of a celebration kicking off the 2013 National Urban League Conference in Philadelphia.

The conference will take place from July 24th to July 27th. Politicians, activists, celebrities, business leaders, community leaders and citizens will work together and come up with solutions to the nation's employment and educational problems. The theme for this year is "Redeem the Dream: Jobs Rebuild America."

The more than 6,000 expected attendees will also discuss the relevant national issues affecting America today like the Trayvon Martin case and the Voting Rights.
