Prince William and his wife Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a baby boy at 4:24 p.m. local time in London. Here locally, parents welcomed their own princes and princesses.
At St. David's Medical Center in Central Austin, Kayla and Drew Gresham patiently awaited the arrival of their first baby.
"Edwin Thomas and we're going to call him Wynn," said Kayla.
They're having a boy, just like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
"It's really similar. It's kind of cool," Kayla said.
With the clock ticking, Kayla hopes there's one more similarity-- the birth date.
"We're trying to get there. We've actually kind of picked up the pace, so hopefully, keep our fingers crossed," said Kayla.
Just up the interstate at University Medical Center Brackenridge, new mom Daria Santos Garcia was feeling blessed for her newest addition.
"For me my son is a prince," she said.
Five pound, point two ounce, Victor Hugo arrived a little early, so he is in the neonatal intensive care unit, but doing great.
In his mom's mind, it's an extra special day since Victor was born hours apart from the newest heir to the throne.
"My entire family we admire, all the work that the mom did, of the prince, so it's something marvelous," Santos Garcia said.
In fact, she thinks so highly of the royal family that she named her daughter after Princess Diana 12 years ago.
"We admire her a lot… the person, her work, not such as a princess but a human being," said Santos Garcia.
What a great story the families will have to share, the first of hopefully many beautiful memories to come.
"It's nice for him to finally be here. I've been waiting for this," said Kayla.
