A police chase down I-17 during rush hour has come to an end with the suspect taken into custody.

The pursuit began about 6:10 p.m. in the area of I-17 southbound and Anthem Way. At this time, it's not known why DPS was pursuing the vehicle.

About 6:30 p.m., the suspect pulled off the highway at the McDowell off-ramp and stopped. He was then taken into custody.

The shoulder of I-17 southbound is closed near the ministack. Traffic is getting by slowly in the other lanes.
