Some ignorant people need a lesson in geography as well as a reminder that Marc Anthony is an American.

On the TV show "Live with Kelly and Michael," the New York-born singer touted his roots in response to ignorant criticism on social media outlets that he was selected to sing "God Bless America" at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

The game was played at Citi Field in Queens.

The Grammy-winning salsa star and actor said that he heard people were questioning why (incorrectly) a "foreign-born" person was singing the patriotic song.

Anthony was born in New York. Some of the more offensive comments questioned why a "Mexican" was singing the song. Anthony is Puerto Rican descent, not Mexican. But even had he been born in Puerto Rico, the island is a U.S. commonwealth and its residents are U.S. citizens.

"You can't get more New York than me," he said.

BuzzFeed has a send-up of some of the most offensive Twitter comments.

By the way, Anthony has a tattoo of the Statue of Liberty on his right forearm.

If you've never been, the annual convention for comic book fans known as Comic Con can be quite an eyeful. Women and men often even dress up as their favorite comic book character. Some of those costumes especially among the women can be revealing and proactive. Some women formed a group called Geeks for Consent. They have collected more than 2,500 signatures on a petition demanding that Comic Con organizers adopt a zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment.
