Former Horn Jordan Spieth: Youngest PGA Winner since 1931
UT golf coach John Fields says he knew Jordan Spieth had "it" when he first saw Spieth play as a 12-year-old, but even Fields had to be a little surprised to see the 19-year-old former Horn become the youngest since 1931to win a PGA tour event. After all, Spieth said the win was ahead of his own schedule.
There were plenty of chest bumps at the John Deere Classic Sunday after Spieth started the final round 6 strokes back. He put in this miracle from the 18th bunker to force a 3-way sudden-death playoff, then locked down the title as number one on the 5th extra hole.
Monday, Coach John Fields told FOX 7 nothing surprises him about his freshman All-American that helped the Horns win their first national title in 40 years.
With the win Spieth also earned a spot in the British Open.
