PHOENIX -

This valley man has been accused of dousing his longtime girlfriend with gasoline and setting her on fire. He's still on the loose, believed to have fled to Mexico.

The alleged attack happened Saturday night in a neighborhood near 32nd St and the 202.  Authorities have not released the name of the victim, but say she was the girlfriend of the man they're looking for: Ivan Rodriguez.

The pair have been living together for some time and have two children.

Police believe Rodriguez became enraged after the victim went out with a friend Saturday night and returned home late, so he doused her with gasoline and set her on fire.

Rodriguez is described as a 44-year-old Hispanic male, 5' 10" and 200 pounds.

The victim suffered burns over 30 percent of her body.

According to police, other people in the home heard her screaming.  She was rushed to an area hospital and authorities say she is now in stable condition.

Rodriguez fled from the scene.  Police believe he may have headed for Mexico.

On Monday morning, his 2006 Volkswagen Golf 2-door hatchback was found near 44th Street and Van Buren.  It was returned to the family.

Police believe Rodriguez was also burned during the assault.  Obviously, they say he should be considered dangerous.
