Untimely death, remembering Glee star Cory Monteith

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

TV Glee star, Cory Monteith, was found dead around noon Saturday on the 21st floor of his hotel. Staff members at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver found him after he apparently missed his check-out time.

"Mr. Monteith checked into the hotel on July 6th and was due to check out of the room today (July 13th). There were others with Mr. Monteith in his room earlier last night, but video and key entries show him returning to his room by himself in the early hours, and we believe he was alone when he died," said Doug LePard, acting chief of the Vancouver Police Department.

The Canadian native was candid about his battle with drug addiction and most recently completed a rehab program in April. In fact, in 2001 he told Parade Magazine his family and friends were so afraid he "could die" that they staged an intervention when he was 19-years-old.

Within the show Glee, Monteith played the character of Finn Hudson, and was well-known and liked by all avid Glee fans. Over the phone, FOX 32's entertainment contributor, Bill Zwecker, said Monteith was a kind and humble man.

Glee tweeted that "Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person." He will be sorely missed by many.
