Tucson ties record with 39 days of 100 degrees

Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - It's been hotter than usual in Tucson these days.

National Weather Service meteorologists say it was 100 degrees in Tucson on Tuesday and that tied a record with 39 consecutive days of 100 degrees or higher.

The 39-day streak of the century mark in Tucson's temperature was set in 1987 and first tied in 2005.

The city may not make it to 40 in a row though.

Meteorologists say Wednesday's high for Tucson is expected to only reach 98 degrees due to cloud cover.
