A key figure in Texas and national politics and an instrumental leader for a Central Texas University has passed away.
Robert "Bob" Hardesty had a long list of achievements in politics and public office, but probably some of the most notable include his speech writing career for President Lyndon Baines Johnson.
He also served three years as Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe's Press Secretary and Special Assistant. Hardesty was also Chairman of the Postal Board of Governors overseeing the US Postal Service.
Hardesty was 82-years-old.
