Posted: Updated:

Authorities uncovered a scary hoarding situation overnight in northeast Philadelphia.

A man was found unconscious among dead and alive cats.  Mountains of debris, mice and rats were also present inside of the house located inside of the Bickley Street home.  There was no air conditioning as well.

The man was rescued only after his family went to check on the him.  He is said to be in his 70s and was taken to a local hospital.

George Bengal, from the PSPCA told Fox 29, "We had tons and tons, buckets and buckets and buckets and buckets and buckets of cat feces everywhere at this property.  I have been doing this job 20 years and I keep saying that every one of these houses that I go in possibly the worst I have seen.  this is at the top of the list."

Fox 29's Steve Keeley filed this report on Good Day from the scene.

It is unclear of the rescued animals will be able to be adopted out.

L & I is also on scene to check on the livability of the house.
