The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer involved shooting in Georgetown. Just before 11 last night, the Georgetown police department got a call reporting 38-year-old Howard Kirk was drunk, angry and driving to his ex-wife's house with a gun.
When police spotted Kirk and tried to pull him over, he led them on a short chase.
Police say then all of a sudden, Kirk stopped the car, got out, and pointed his gun at the officer.
That's when the officer fired one shot, missing Kirk, but that was enough for Kirk to drop his weapon.
Police say Kirk still resisted arrest but was finally taken into custody after a taser was used.
Kirk was found with a knife and a gun.
He is being charged with evading arrest and aggravated assault against a public servant.
