The Rooster Teeth Expo or RTX for short started just a few years ago with about 500 nerds from the Austin area and this year it's grown to about 10,000 nerds from all over the country!
Rooster Teeth is an Austin based production company that makes funny web videos and celebrates all-things video game related.
This is like their Woodstock.
"[It's] where we celebrate all the things that we love and that we find entertaining. So we have gaming, we have internet celebrities, we have cool merchandise, we have all of our fans and friends and family," said Barbara Dunkelman with Rooster Teeth.
Cody Sahs came all the way from Nebraska.
"I'm the nerd that dresses up and goes around town," Sahs said.
He's dressed up as a sniper from the game Halo Reach.
And no joke...he made the intricate outfit.
Some of these gamers have turned their passion into startup companies like Michael Anderson with Game Wisp.
"It's a cloud backup for PC game content. Basically anywhere you buy the game, we can back up your game saves to the cloud automatically," Anderson said.
John and Diane Felton came all the way from North Carolina with their son. But they're not big gamers themselves.
There's an ancient "Will Smith" proverb that says "Parents just don't understand"...but some do.
"It's kind of a tradition we have with the kids. On their 16th birthday, we take them where they want to go. And we wanted him to go to New York but he wanted to come here," John said.
RTX lasts all weekend at the Austin Convention center from 9am to 6pm.
