The Lone Star Soccer Club's under 17 Elite National girls team is heading to Nationals in Richmond Virginia.
"It's awesome, I'm so excited," said Lone Star forward Katie Uhler.
Lone Star midfielder Mikaela Harvey added, "We're definitely excited for it."
Out of 73 clubs around the country they're one of the final eight remaining.
"It's crazy," Harvey said. "Sometimes I don't like step back to think about it. But when I think about it. This is like the top eight teams, and it's like amazing that we actually get the opportunity to do this," said Harvey.
This U17 Lone Star girls team, which won a national title two years ago, is led by Texas A&M bound 17-year-old Mikaela Harvey, who's been recognized as one of the nation's top players. She's also pretty tough. She recently suffered a broken hand in their last playoff game, but hasn't let that affect her.
"At the time I wasn't really thinking about it because I was so into the game," Harvey said. "But after I was like scared. What if I wasn't able to play nationals? Because I've been working so hard. I want to contribute for my team. But it's just another obstacle that I have to get over."
Lone Star head coach J.D. Cochran added, "She is a nightmare for team's defenses. They cannot stop her. So, she creates all kinds of options for our players to score, and she's exciting to watch."
The National Finals will take place July 10-15 in Richmond, Virginia.
