NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The NYPD is questioning two men in connection with the shooting of a construction worker in broad daylight in Manhattan.

Sources tell FOX 5 News's Lisa Evers that Port Authority Police officers patrolling near JFK Airport on Tuesday morning recognized one of the men wanted by police for the shooting.

A photo of a possible suspect had been distributed to police after the shooting.

The man was taken into custody outside a construction trailer on Lefferts Boulevard in Queens where he was applying for a job, according to sources.

NYPD detectives are questioning a second man who is being held on outstanding warrants, according to sources.

The shooting took place at the corner of 8th Ave. and W. 49th St. on Monday.

The man was shot in the shoulder and abdomen at about 9:35 a.m., said police.

The worker is expected to survive.

Witnesses called 911 and alerted police to a male shooter who took off in a silver Nissan Altima or a white Ford, reported the NY Post.

The victim is believed to be a man in his mid-50s.
