Man possibly drowns in local park

Posted: Updated:

Dive teams searched the waters around Bob Wentz Park Sunday evening looking for the body of a 24-year old man who reportedly went under water.

Travis County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Roger Wade tells FOX 7 the man was swimming with a friend about 20 yards from the shore when he all of a sudden slipped under the water. The man reportedly did not call for help. A witness called 9-1-1 at 4:30 p.m., Sunday afternoon.

Once the man's body is recovered it will be sent to the medical examiner to confirm a cause of death. The man's name is not being released pending notification of family.
