Strangers raise money to help Austin Firefighter

Posted: Updated:

An Austin firefighter is still recovering after being hit by a truck while riding his bike earlier this month.

On Saturday, the Moontower along with other area organizations accepted donations for Colin Camp, 33, to help him and his family with expenses as he recovers from serious injuries sustained in the cycling accident.

Organizers asked anyone concerned about public safety in the Austin area to stop by and make a donation at the Moontower Saloon on Manchaca Rd. The saloon is located near the site where Camp was hit on June 18.

Camp was rushed to UMC Brackenridge with life-threatening injuries and remains in a coma. The man who hit camp was arrested for aggravated assault with a vehicle and failure to stop and render aid.

Camp's friends say you can also make a donation on Just search for Colin Camp on the website. Their goal is to raise $3,000 for Camp.
