Posted: Updated:

A 46-year-old Austin man was released from jail after spending a day in custody on suspicion of murder.

Lee Andre Buquet was released from the Travis County Jail on Thursday after prosecutors decided not to file charges against him in the death of 26-year-old Zachary Samuel Joseph Martel. Officials say there was evidence that Buquet acted in self-defense.

Buquet was arrested on June 26, after Austin Police officers responded to a shots fired call at a residence in the 600 block of Grady Drive. They located Martel deceased inside the home.

In a press release, Officials stated that through the investigation it was discovered that Martel went to Buquet's residence armed with a firearm. Detectives say at this time they believe Buquet acted in self-defense and will not file formal charges against him.
